Bricklaying
The skills you will learn as you become a qualified bricklayer include construction of: half brick and solid walling; cavity walls up to roof-line; arches and solid wall piers; and decorative fire places and chimney stacks.
Others include trowel skills, brick bonding and building complex masonry.
Theoretical training will include health, safety and welfare and understanding site procedures in construction. You may also be able to obtain a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
Other opportunities include meeting key employers in the trade, and carrying out work experience and voluntary work that will enhance your CV.
